World Renowned Electric Violinist Mark Wood to Perform with Students, Arkansas Youth Orchestra, Little Rock

The Point 94.1 and Arkansas Symphony Orchestra present Electrify Your Strings! Youth Rock Camp

Little Rock, Arkansas, April 27, 2015 (McKenzieNewsService.com) - International recording artist and Emmy award winning composer Mark Wood, an original member of the multiplatinum selling Trans-Siberian Orchestra and creator of the revolutionary Viper electric violin, is bringing his groundbreaking music education program Electrify Your Strings! (EYS) to the Arkansas Youth Orchestra in Little Rock, Arkansas, May 16 – 17. This exciting event will transform the student musicians into a full-fledged Rock Orchestra. Mark will be performing with the students on his handcrafted 7-string fretted electric Viper violin as part of the 2015 Electrify Your Strings! “Velocity Tour” on May 17th at 7:00pm at the Pulaski Academy’s Connor Performing Arts Center, 12701 Hinson Road, Little Rock. The audience will be entertained by Mark’s original material, as well as his exciting arrangements of music by Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and more.

Joining Mark for this event is vocalist Laura Kaye, Mark’s partner and wife, who will work with the Arkansas Youth Choir. Laura has worked with James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Lenny Kravitz, and Sean Lennon, among others.

The students who are participating in the program come from schools all over the state. This will be the third time Mark has brought EYS to Little Rock and the students who participated in Mark Wood's Camp last time are "psyched" to do this again, and can't wait until May.

The program – now in its 15th year – is a music education experience like no other. Wood and his team work directly with the youth orchestra director to tailor-design a rock orchestra makeover complete with a public performance at the end of the experience. EYS builds on the strong foundation in traditional music provided by music teachers; creating a partnership with educators that inspires students and boosts their self-esteem and motivation on stage and off. EYS has been featured on The Today Show, The CBS Evening News, and many more.

Tickets are $10 are can be purchased online at www.ArkansasSymphony.org; at the Connor Performing Arts Center box office beginning 90 minutes prior to a concert; or by phone at 501-666-1761, ext. 100. All Arkansas students grades K-12 are admitted to the concert free of charge! The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Youth Rock Camp is sponsored by The Point 94.1.
