New Smyrna Beach Balloon & Sky Fest Bigger and Better Than Ever, March 28-30

New Smyrna Beach Balloon & Sky Fest 2014 again will feature world-class air shows with Aeroshell T-6 planes circling overhead to lead into the nighttime events. In addition to evening balloon glows, as many as 20 hot-air balloons will carry passengers aloft.

New Smyrna Beach, Florida (March 10, 2014) - The sixth annual New Smyrna Beach Balloon & Sky Fest, March 28-30 at the New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport, will be bigger, better, more exciting, and feature more to do and enjoy than ever before. It’s two nights and two days of all the family fun anyone can handle.

DAY AND NIGHT AIR SHOWS – Once again, there will be exhilarating air shows Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00 and Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 1:00. These shows will feature the top air show acts in the country:

•          The four-ship Aeroshell Aerobatic team in day and night precision flying performances.
•          Patty Wagstaff twisting and tumbling in her racy Extra 300 and executing an inverted ribbon cut.
•          Gene Soucy in the powerful ShowCat, with Teresa Stokes walking the wing.
•          Paul Stender behind the wheel of the world’s only 300 MPH jet-powered school bus.
•          Jim “Fang” Maroney spiraling and corkscrewing through the air and finishing by standing out on the wing.
•          Paul Schulten in his Christen Eagle, twirling and zigzagging in the sky almost faster than the eye can see.
•          Roger Buis and his fun-loving helicopter OTTO, doing things in the air no one thought a ‘copter could do.

•          Jimmy Fordham roaring through the sky in his vintage T-6 warbird.
•          Mark Henley and Jeff Michael in separate performances in crowd-pleasing P-51 Mustangs.
•          Parachute jumps by the Skybolts Precision Demonstration Team, including an American Flag jump.

HOT-AIR BALLOONS – A small gathering of balloons is what got this whole thing started in 2009. Now, five years later, there will be dozens of balloons, with dazzling balloon glows Friday and Saturday evenings and balloon flights at dawn Saturday and Sunday. Nothing makes people smile more than a bevy of beautiful balloons.

VETERANS – Veterans are very special guests at Balloon & Sky Fest. They are admitted free of charge all weekend long, and are welcomed and honored by volunteers. Plus, there will be special veterans’ recognition ceremonies during the afternoon air shows in which five veterans each day are presented with plaques. And this year there will be a traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall on display all weekend.

THE BALLOON EXPERIENCE – This is where young and old alike will learn everything they ever wanted to know about ballooning – and a little bit more. Watch, touch, feel, hear – and talk to a licensed balloonist.

SOUNDS OF SKY FEST – Country, Bluegrass, Reggae, Rock ‘n’ Roll – you name it. How about going to a Balloon & Sky Fest and having a top-notch music festival break out? Well, that’s what will be happening at the main stage. Featured acts include Florida’s favorite Country Cracker – Patrick Gibson; CrashRocket; J.T. Curtis and the Silver Eagle Band, a special appearance by Dwayne O’Brien (founder of Little Texas), and more.

VIP FLIGHTLINE TENT – The VIP Flightline Tent is open during all air shows. This exclusive venue offers catered lunches all afternoon, evening snacks, free Premium Craft Beers and wine, and comfortable air show seating. Tickets may be purchased online at
www.BalloonandSkyFest.com

INSPIRATION VILLAGE – This is the place where kids and their parents learn something without even realizing it. Inspiration Village is a unique venue that will feature everything from radio-controlled aircraft and a NASA exhibit to a real helicopter, a robotics competition, an interactive Laser Zone console and much more..

ANIMAL ENCOUNTER – Among the most popular attractions at Balloon & Sky Fest are the horseback demonstrations held several times each day. This year’s performances by The Horse Force will have a patriotic theme. And there will be farm animals on display as well as appearances by Gus The Kissing Camel.

RIDES – Rides will be available for purchase aboard a three-seat Enstrom helicopter, two Vietnam-era Huey helicopters, a Cobra attack helicopter, two Cessna 172 airplanes, a vintage biplane, and a WWII-era AT-6 trainer.

DISPLAY AIRCRAFT – You’ll get to see a beautifully restored DC-3 that flies on international mission trips, several vintage warbirds such as a TBM Avenger, T-6 trainers, two P-51 Mustangs, a beautiful bent-wing Corsair, and a T-28. There will be modern aircraft on display as well – plus a plane that helps deliver all those FedEx packages.

VENDORS – Dozens of food vendors, scores of arts and crafts vendors, and exhibits by local businesses will make Vendor Row a must stop for any visitor who is looking for any kind of food, feels like shopping for fabulous arts and crafts, or wants to see the latest from local businessmen. Vendor Row has everything you could want. So eat, shop, look, and listen.

CARNIVAL – Young, old, middle-aged, teenager – it doesn’t matter. The carnival has something for everyone. It’s great during the day, and even better at night. Step up, climb on, sit down, and enjoy the ride. Ride tickets will be available on site.
