Venturing outside the Pittsburgh region, Caruso has been working diligently to create a sister company in the Charlotte area, and this vibrant new ensemble will make its debut during the Pittsburgh company’s Southern Tour.  With five seasoned artists on the roster, and under the rehearsal direction of tenured company alum, Lauren Suflita Skrabalak, Bodiography Contemporary Ballet Charlotte will perform their first work by Caruso titled, Lullaby, as part of the Premiere Charlotte concert during their only public performance on their travels.  Caruso’s new work celebrates the notion of motherhood and nurturing humanity.  With the ensemble’s combined 13 children among the group, these powerful women test the expanse of their technical intelligence as well as their theatrical breadth.

BCB Charlotte will perform with the Pittsburgh Company on all of the scheduled stops inclusive of the Northwest School for the Arts, Blumenthal’s Booth Playhouse, and the Johnson Theatre in South Carolina, following the company’s weeklong residency at Winthrop University.  During this time the eight company artists will perform an array of works from Caruso’s catalog of 80 ballets and engage in multi genre workshops and repertory classes.  The tour will conclude with a full day workshop series, open to the public, with the company artists in Charlotte are on February 26, 2017.
