California State Button Show Coming to San Diego May 30 to 31

 

Whether you are fascinated with their artistic quality, want to examine their material and construction, or seek to delve into their history, there will be buttons for everyone in all price ranges.

 

 

San Diego, California, March 9, 2015 (McKenzieNewsService.com) - Button collectors will gather in San Diego the weekend of Saturday, May 30th (10am to 5pm) and Sunday, May 31st  (10am to 3pm), at the Town & Country Hotel & Convention Center, 500 Hotel Circle N., San Diego, for the California State Button Society’s annual convention. Admission is free; donations will be gratefully accepted. Collectors, dealers, tailors and seamstresses, jewelry and costume designers, and quilters and crafters of all ages are welcome.
 
There will be hundreds of thousands of buttons for sale by dealers from across the country. In addition, the show will feature educational displays and a judged button competition. There will be buttons from exquisitely made18th century to vintage (pre-1918) and modern (post-1918) buttons, along with studio buttons made by artisans for collectors. There will be Bakelite, celluloid, Victorian glass, calicos, uniform buttons of all types, enamels, all types of metals, Mother of Pearl shell, and much more, including buttons made with such materials as rubber, ceramic, horn, bone, coconut, tagua nut and snake skin.
