Chamber Music Society of Central VA opens its Winter Baroque series with musical storytelling, Richmond, VA

Richmond, Virginia, December 29, 2014 (McKenzieNewsService.com) - The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia, one of the most innovative and accessible classical music organizations in Virginia, celebrates its tenth anniversary in the 2014 / 2015 concert season. CMSCVA will kick off 2015 with two concerts of Baroque music. These concerts will take listeners on a musical journey through Baroque Europe, from Italy to England - all through exciting HIP (Historically Informed Performance) interpretations on period instruments.

Dramatic storytelling is brought to musical life on Saturday January 10th at 7:30pm at the First Unitarian Universalist Church (1000 Blanton Ave., Richmond, VA), in a concert entitled “Dido and Other Heroines.” Favorite performers from past CMSVA seasons, including Soprano Jessica Petrus and Baroque violinist Martin Davids, return for this evening featuring evocative cantatas by French composers and brilliant instrumental works from England and Italy.

Joining the Society as guests for this event will be five world-class classical musicians from the US and abroad.

Admission: $25 Regular, $20 Senior (60+), $5 Student. Find out more at
