Angleton, TX revamps firework show, launches Freedom Festival

City of Angleton is looking for vendors to round out the new event.

Angleton, Texas, April 27, 2015 - To allow for more space, and more fun, organizers of Angleton’s annual Freedom Fireworks changed the location, changed the set-up and now are looking for vendors to round out the new event.
"Organizers are planning a 12-hour day packed with food, family activities and shopping at the Brazoria County Fairgrounds, followed by fireworks," said Martha Eighme, tourism and special events coordinator.
"Usually held at Freedom Park, last year’s show was a huge hit, but people were packed into the area around the park. With a new apartment complex opening up close by, it was time to look into alternatives," Eighme said. “We started looking at different options, and expanding the event. We already do Market Days and have great success with that, so it just made sense to move it to the Fairgrounds,” she said.
Freedom Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 27, the Saturday before July 4th, and will have vendors, food trucks and a kids’ zone. They are also looking to have dance studios and local talent perform to make it more enjoyable for the entire family.  At 9:20 the fireworks show will begin.
About 90 Vendors have reserved a space at the Festival with calls coming in daily.  “While most of our vendors will be in one of the three air-conditioned buildings, we have vendors who are requesting outdoors spaces as well” says Eighme.
It shouldn’t be hard to find enough vendors to keep people occupied throughout the day either. Angleton’s annual Market Days, held in the spring and fall, has a loyal following of vendors who are excited and eager about making another trip during the year, but the City is always looking for great new vendors.
Eighme hopes that the expansion of this community event will lift the City’s effort to boost tourism and make Angleton a destination town for its shows and Market Days. “People coming from all over is always the goal,” she said. “I’ve heard from so many people that our pyrotechnic show is the best around – you won’t want to miss it!”
