The City of Fairfax Fall Festival Offers Crafts, Music, Carnival, Expanded Stages of Entertainment, Lumberjack Competition

 

  

 

Fairfax, Virginia (January 14, 2014) - Crafts, children’s activities, rides, music and food will fill the downtown Fairfax streets during the Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 11, 2014 (rain date Oct. 12). No entrance fee to attend the festival. There are fees for various rides and children activities. 
 
Over 400 juried crafters from around the region will sell handmade wares, such as vases, wind chimes, quilts, dolls and toys, jewelry, woodcrafts, needlework and photography. Booths and displays will line both sides of University Drive, Main Street and Sager Avenue.
 
Children will have their own special activities throughout the festival to include musical entertainment, pumpkin painting, crafts, amusement rides, pony rides and a petting zoo.  The Children’s Stage will feature local children entertainers from 10am-4:30pm.
 
The Main Stage, featuring live music, will be located on South Street near University Drive.  An Octoberfest beer garden and main food court will be located in this area. The Main Stage will feature live music 11am-5pm.
 
Returning again this year is The All-American Lumberjack Show & Interactive Lumberjack Camp sponsored by JL Tree Service will be held throughout the day for festival goers to cheer on professional lumberjacks as they compete in 11 different events. See everything from axes, modified racing chainsaws, water events and cross-cut saws to audience participation. Showtimes: 11am, 1:30pm, 4pm.  Camp: 2pm
 
The Country Stage will showcase performers between the hours of the Lumberjack Shows and Camp.  The entertainers will be performing from 11:30am-4pm.
 
Cultural performances will be held in Old Town Hall throughout the day.
 
During the Fall Festival, shuttle buses will be available from Fairfax High School and George Mason University.   Handicapped parking will be provided at the parking lots located at North Street & Old Lee Highway, Main Street & East Street and at 4041 University Drive.
