Chicago's Protégé Philharmonic to Feature 2017 Concerto Competition Winner

 

Founded 27 years ago, The Protégé Philharmonic, builds the future of classical music through the cultivation of young artists, which includes orchestral training opportunities, chamber music ensembles, soloists and composers.

 

 

Illinois, February 20, 2017 - The Protégé Philharmonic of Chicago has announced its third concert of the 2016-17 Season, Sunday, March 5, 2017, 3:00 p.m. The concert will be performed in the Auditorium of the Salme Harju Steinberg Fine Arts Center at Northeastern Illinois University and is conveniently located at 3701 West Bryn Mawr Ave., Chicago, IL. There is free parking in Parking Lot F.
 
Music Director and founder of the orchestra, Joseph Glymph, has programmed Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld Overture; Gliere's Russian Sailor's Dance; and Elgar's Enigma Variations, Op. 36. The concert will feature the 2017 Concerto Competition Winner, Kayleigh Peng, Violin, performing the Mozart Violin Concerto No. 5 in A Major, K. 219.
 
Ticket prices are $15, General Admission; $10, Students/Seniors; and Children Under 12, $5.

About the Orchestra:

Founded 27 years ago, The Protégé Philharmonic, builds the future of classical music through the cultivation of young artists, which includes orchestral training opportunities, chamber music ensembles, soloists and composers. The audition-only orchestra counts members from the Chicago metropolitan area and northwest Indiana, ranging from advanced junior high through high school students. The Philharmonic provides professional orchestra training and members receive coaching from professional accomplished musicians from throughout the Chicagoland area. The orchestra gives four programs every regular season in the Auditorium of the Salme Harju Steinberg Fine Arts Center at Northeastern Illinois University, and two concerts each during the summers. Rehearsals are held at Classical Symphony Hall, 218 South Wabash Avenue; rehearsals are open to the public. Last year's graduating seniors won $250,00 in scholarships to colleges and universities all over the United States
