Chicago, Illinois, December 7, 2015 - The Protégé Philharmonic will perform its wildly popular annual Christmas Concert featuring music of Wagner, Mussorgsky, Liszt, and Tchaikovsky, with favorite holiday seasonal works by Leroy Anderson and an audience participation Christmas Carol Sing-A-Long. The event will take place at 3pm at the auditorium at the Salme Harju Steinberg Fine Arts Center, Northeastern Illinois University, at 3701 West Bryn Mawr Ave., Chicago, IL. Admission is $10.00.

PROGRAM:

Wagner - Die Meistersinger: Prelude
Mussorgsky - Night on Bald Mountain
Liszt - Mephisto Waltz
Anderson - Christmas Festival
Anderson - Sleigh Ride
Tchaikovsky- Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a
Christmas Carol Sing-A-Long!

As always, the audience is expected to be standing room only for the concert, and an overflow of concertgoers listening in from the lobby, so early arrival is advised.

Wagner's majestic and powerful Die Meistersinger: Prelude will start the concert off in exciting and majestic fashion. The dramatic and thrilling Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky is followed by Liszt’s haunting Mephisto Waltz. The second half of the program is dedicated to seasonal favorites, including Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite, and Leroy Anderson's A Christmas Festival and Sleigh Ride. The program concludes with a Christmas Carol Sing-A-Long with audience participation. "It is unbelievable how popular this particular concert is," said Music Director Joseph Glymph; "at The Fall Showcase Joint Concert in November, mere mention of the holiday concert brought cheers of excitement from the audience."
