Chicago's Classical Symphony Orchestra and The Protégé Philharmonic Perform 2015 Spring Showcase Joint Concert

 

 

Chicago, Illinois, April 29, 2015 (McKenzieNewsService.com) - The Classical Symphony Orchestra and The Protégé Philharmonic invite the public to their Spring Showcase Joint Concert, the final concert of the orchestras' 2014-2015 season, on Sunday, May 10, 2015 in the Robin Bennett Theatre, William Jones College Prep High School, 700 South State Street, Chicago, IL at 3 p.m. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are General Admission: $15; Seniors/Students: $10; Children, 12 & under: $5.
 
Guiseppe Verdi's favorite Nabucco: Overture begins the concert demonstrating The Protégé Philharmonic's ability to bring great operatic music to life. Protégé will complete their portion of the concert by performing the deep, soul searching Death and Transfiguration, Op. 24 by Richard Strauss.
 
The Classical Symphony takes the stage after intermission with Kabalevsky's brilliant, fast paced Colas Breugnon: Overture. They will finish with the majestic and stirrng Symphony No. 5, Op. 107 "Reformation" by Felix Mendelssohn.
 
The orchestras will combine forces to finish the concert season with Rienzi: Overture by Richard Wagner rounding out an afternoon filled with exciting and powerfully performed music.
 
About The Organization: The Orchestras build the future of classical music through the cultivation of young artists, which includes orchestral training opportunities, chamber music ensembles, soloists and composers. The audition-only orchestras, ranging from junior high and high school (The Protégé Philharmonic) through college, graduate school and interested, highly qualified adults from the community (The Classical Symphony Orchestra). The Orchestras provide professional orchestra training and receive coaching from professional accomplished musicians from throughout the Chicagoland area.
