Wounded Warrior Band Headlines Colorado Springs Festival July 1-2

 

This year the festival partners with the non-profit organization Wounded Warrior Music Program. The Colorado School of Rock Wounded Warrior Music Program is a music curriculum for military men and women to reconnect with their families, through a hands on music program that restores relationships and facilitates the return to domestic life.

 

 

Colorado Springs, Colorado, March 27, 2017 - The 2017 Colorado Springs Art and Music Festival is back at America The Beautiful Park July 1-2 with an Independence Day weekend showcase of fine arts, live music performances kids activities and delicious foods. The park is located at 126 Cimino Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80903. Admission is free this year and there is free parking. The hours are Saturday 10am - 7pm and Sunday 10am - 4pm. This year, the festival partners with the non profit organization Wounded Warrior Music Program. Their band performs a Motown Rock and Soul Revue. Paula Comptonís soulful vocals reminiscent of Janis Joplin, combined with Jac Mihanovicís bass and keyboard synthesizer prowess, gives a 20-piece band feel. Mihanovicís recording and performance credits include Ray Charles, Steve Vai, Little Richard, Taj Mahal, Robert Fripp, and Tower of Power just to name a few. The Wounded Warrior Band's hit CD "Booths On The Ground" is #1 on YouTunes and Amazon.

 

Milo Hayes Blend performs a funk, jazz, blue grass and R&B throw down. The 4th of July music celebration continues with local Colorado Springs music by John Stoneís Flyiní Libre band, Clyde Tullis Blues, and Doc & Kit Americana Sound. Denverís Celtic/Experimental Ponder The Albatross, Band On The Fence, and dark side ballads by Scarecrow Revival bring on the music for this special festival weekend. Free open and covered seating. Browse the park lawns with rows of booths filled with juried art for sale by national and local fine artists.  On display are distinctive jewelry designs, painting and mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, photography, wood, leather, hand crafted furniture, and wearable art - a smorgasbord of fine art. Talk with the artists about their process and inspiration.
