Wounded Warrior Band Headlines Salida Riverside Art and Music Festival, Salida, CO

 

This year the festival partners with the non-profit organization Wounded Warrior Music Program. The Colorado School of Rock Wounded Warrior Music Program is a music curriculum for military men and women to reconnect with their families, through a hands on music program that restores relationships and facilitates the return to domestic life.

 

 

Salida, Colorado, March 30, 2017 - The 9th Annual Salida Riverside Art and Music Festival is back at Riverside Park July 15-16, 2017 with a weekend showcase of fine arts, live music performances kids activities and delicious foods. Festival Admission is free and there is plenty of free parking. Festival is located at 198 F Street. Hours are Saturday 10am - 7pm and Sunday 10am - 4pm.

 

This year, the festival partners with the non profit organization Wounded Warrior Music Program. Their band performs a MoTown Rock and Soul Revue, the next generation of hybrid live performance. Pristine sound quality and a mix of the digital sound revolution is crossbred with the energy of stellar musicians teariní it up on stage. Paula Comptonís soulful vocals reminiscent of Janis Joplin, combined with Jac Mihanovicís bass and keyboard synthesizer prowess, gives a 20-piece band feel. Mihanovicís recording and performance credits include Ray Charles, Steve Vai, Little Richard, Taj Mahal, Robert Fripp, and Tower of Power just to name a few. The Wounded Warrior Band's hit CD "Booths On The Ground" is #1 on YouTunes and Amazon.

 

Milo Hayes Blend with Charlie Milo and Bruce Hayes performs a funk, jazz, blue grass and R&B throw down performance Saturday. The music celebration continues with Colorado Springs John Stoneís Flyiní Libre band, Clyde Tullis Blues, and Doc & Kit Americana Sound. Denverís Celtic/Experimental Ponder The Albatross, and the rockiní Band On The Fence, and from Buena Vista, Ceruleus brings on the music for this special festival weekend. Free open seating, guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and small lawn tents to enjoy the show. Music performance times are posted on the festival website.

 

Browse the park lawns with rows of booths filled with juried art for sale by national and local fine artists. On display are distinctive jewelry designs, painting and mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, photography, wood, leather, hand crafted furniture, and wearable art - an amazing smorgasbord of fine art. Talk with the artists about their process and inspiration and enjoy several tiers of pricing.
