Company C Contemporary Ballet presents Arcane: A Tale of All Hallows' Eve

The ballet tells the story of Arcane, the celestial star who sits at the hip of the harvest moon. Each Halloween, when the veil between life and death is at its thinnest, Arcane descends to Earth. She brings with her the “Voice of the Voiceless,” and with this voice animates those caught in the netherworld – those who have left something undone or unsaid.

About Company C:
Company C Contemporary Ballet was founded in 2002 by Anderson, a former member of the New York City Ballet, and Elizabeth Reed, who served as executive director until retiring in 2014. Company C’s mission is to offer a repertoire of contemporary choreography that is moving, provocative, beautiful and entertaining.

Company C has presented more than 40 world premieres by 29 choreographers. Throughout its history, the company has performed works from such masters as Antony Tudor, Lar Lubovitch and Paul Taylor, including the world premiere of Twyla Tharp’s “Armenia.”

Numerous publications have chronicled Company C’s rising stature in the dance world. “Dance Magazine” was among the first to recognize the company’s growing national reputation, selecting it to the publication’s prestigious “2010 25 to Watch” list and “Diablo Magazine” has recognized it five times as the area’s “Best Dance Troupe.” In addition, Company C’s works have earned seven Isadora Duncan Awards. In 2013, the company was invited to perform at the prestigious “Ballet v6.0 Festival” at New York’s historic Joyce Theater.

In 2014, the company re-envisioned its artistic goals. It broke from its traditional winter and spring repertoire seasons to focus on a full-length story ballet, “Arcane: A Tale of All Hallows’ Eve,” which the company premiered the following year at the Cowell Theater in San Francisco.
