Summer Splash Art & Music Fest at Denver's Sloan's Lake, August 9th and 10th

Denver, Colorado, July 2, 2014 (McKenzieNewsService.com) - This summer's big splash is at Sloan's Lake in Denver. The Denver Arts Festival at Sloan's Lake is the first annual fine art and music event at Denver's 2nd largest city park, August 9 and 10. National juried fine artists will sell unique and exceptional professional hand made art in twelve categories including jewelry, painting, mixed media, ceramics, wearable art, drawing, sculpture, photography and more.  The event is free.
 
Featured artist Amado Peña, a recognized Artisan of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Arizona, will give demonstrations of his colorful and widely collected artworks inspired by places such as Canyon de Chelly, Spider Rock, Monument Valley, Enchanted Mesa and Black Mesa in Arizona and New Mexico.
 
The Solar Music Stage 'Saturday Sunset Concert' will feature Chuck Pyle, nationally known songwriter and Colorado's  own Zen Cowboy. Humorous stories are inter-mingled with original songs that have been recorded by John Denver and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. His popular song “Colorado” is heard regularly on PBS television. His performance starts at 6pm. 
 

 

Other Saturday musical features are Bruce Hayes from Howard, Colorado, a one man band rocking his banjo and other instruments at 5pm. Doc and Kit, a delightful and funny singing couple with a western flair from Canon City, will perform at 4pm. Steve Werges of FTP Band, Denver, Clyde Tullis, slide blues performer of Centennial and Deb and Bill Needell from Elbert and Salida, Colorado play bass and guitar tunes and show their audience why they love to perform.

The Sunday Stage will feature Denver's own smooth crooner Kelly Triplett with songs from her recent CD release. Band on the Fence of Denver will roll with their special harmonies and musical blends. 
 
The Creative Edge Family Art tent will offer shade and creative activities and launch their city wide campaign to bring their drawing skills program to schools and communities. K-9s for a Cause, a fast paced dog trick show will amaze everyone Saturday while raising money for charities. Two performances are scheduled for Saturday at 10:30 and 1pm. Commercial and non-profit booths will distribute information and free samples. Sea Cuisine, well known for delicious sea food dinners, is on a 5 city tour to introduce their newest taco dinners and will offer samples from their impressive "Taco Bar."
 
Festival hours are Saturday 9:30 - 7pm and Sunday 9:30 - 3pm. The festival location is at the South end of Sloan’s Lake Park at 17th and Utica Street.
