Palo Alto, California (April 7, 2014) - Joe Pantoliano, award-winning actor, best-selling author, and mental health activist, will be the keynote speaker at the 11th Annual Circle of Support Breakfast benefiting Family & Children Services of Silicon Valley. Pantoliano will share his personal experience with mental health issues and insights from his campaign to reduce the stigma around brain related disorders.  The event will take place on May 8, 2014, at the Crowne Plaza Palo Alto, 4290 El Camino Real,  Palo Alto, CA.

Event proceeds will benefit the work of Family & Children Services of Silicon Valley (FCS Silicon Valley), a nonprofit organization that has been improving the lives of children, teens, and adults in the community through emotional and mental health services since 1948.

Joe Pantoliano is best known from work in television and film, including roles in The Sopranos, The Matrix, The Goonies, Risky Business, Memento, and The Fugitive. Before he became one of Hollywood’s most successful character actors, however, he was “Joey Pants” from Hoboken. Growing up, Pantoliano always knew something was different about him. Not until much later in life was Pantoliano diagnosed with clinical depression. He since has made it his mission to increase awareness about mental health issues, remove the stigma that hinders people from seeking treatment, and let people who are coping know that they are not alone.

“I’m very honored to be Keynote Speaker for the Annual Circle of Support Breakfast benefiting Family & Children Services of Silicon Valley,” says Mr. Pantoliano. “I’m looking forward to sharing my personal story and commitment to eliminating the bigotry and shame that shrouds brain disease.”

FCS Silicon Valley has provided mental health care for individuals and families since 1948. Experts in the areas of intensive mental health management and substance abuse recovery interventions, FCS Silicon Valley works with schools, empowers foster youth to succeed as they enter adulthood, offers specialized LGBTQ youth and young adults services, and strives daily to reach youth and young adults who are struggling yet reluctant to seek help.
