Atlanta, Georgia, February 1, 2016 - Full Radius Dance will present Breakaway on March 11 to 12, 2016 at the 7 Stages Mainstage Theatre, 1105 Euclid Avenue NE, Atlanta, GA 30307. Times: 3/11 at 8PM, 3/12 at 2PM and 8PM. Tickets are $20.00 for adults, $15.00 for seniors/children and $12.00 for groups of 10 or more and are available for purchase at www.fullradiusdance.org.

Full Radius Dance, the physically-integrated (dancers with and without disabilities) professional modern dance company, presents a diverse dance program that finds inspiration in the work of Iranian artist Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian, the concept of static friction, and the Hull House Map and Papers (a pioneering chronicle of social work).  Also on the program will be a short documentary by cultural anthropologist Sasha Klupchack.

In a NY Times article about Ms. Farmanfarmaian, it was said that "she took bees — whose patterns she noticed in the dew on her windows — and dipped them in ink.”  Choreographer Douglas Scott was intrigued, and then appalled.  Is sacrifice necessary for the creation of art?  A Bee in Ink looks at the struggle.

Shawn Evangelista contributes Static Friction, a serious, energetic, emotionally driven dance work.  It reveals how we are affected by imposed stigma.

A great surge of immigration began in the last decade of the nineteenth century.  In 1895, in a third of a square mile around Chicago’s Hull-House, immigrants of eighteen nationalities lived.  Douglas Scott’s Tenement explores the imagined histories of the residents.

Klupchak’s documentary of Full Radius Dance, A Work in Progress, presents a meeting of two extremes: what we usually conceive of as the physical perfection of the dancer and the perceived limitations of people with disabilities. A Work in Progress disrupts this binary.
