Kishwaukee Fest and Baconpalooza-Swine & Wine Fest Coming July 23-3, Dekalb, IL

 

The Kishwaukee Fest began in 2010 as an entertainment salute to DeKalb County, Illinois. The week long Festival features Concerts in the Park, a Friday evening Parade, a Saturday Liners baseball game and a Sunday car show. In addition to the main events there are additional activities, entertainment and attractions to showcase DeKalb County.

 

 

Dekalb, Illinois, July 15, 2016 - Kishwaukee Fest of DeKalb County, Illinois, returns this July 23 to 31 with a full week of free entertainment. There will be a variety of events including concerts in the park, car shows, food events and a parade. There are events and activities in several communities in DeKalb County.
 
The parade is one of the major attractions and will be held Friday evening, July 29 starting at 7:00 pm in downtown DeKalb. The parade kicks off with a Cruise Night of classic and muscle cars that premieres before the main parade. The event is called the "Parade of Parades" and will feature a unique collection of music units, youth units, several Miss Illinois Pageant Queens, several local business float entries, military units and additional specialty groups. This year's parade will also feature the first Christmas Parade of the season, complete with Santa and elves. Local stores will be offering "Christmas in July" sales. The theme of the 2016 Parade is "Salute to Veterans" and will include a current military member as Parade Marshall.
 
The food attraction will be BaconPalooza-Swine & Wine festival on Saturday, July 30 in downtown DeKalb at VanBuer Plaza  from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This event will feature a variety of Bacon Food vendors and an opportunity to sample wines from a selection of excellent vineyards. There will also be a Corvette Car Showcase and additional activities for the younger generation. 
 
The week long festival concludes with one of the largest car and motorcycle displays in the Midwest. The 'Turning Back Tyme' car show will be held in downtown Sycamore (IL) with over 600 + cars and motorcycles.
 
Kishwaukee Fest begins with a free movie in Hopkins Park on Saturday, July 23. On Sunday, July 24 a 7:00pm Country Music concert in Hopkins Park. Monday, July 25 will feature Smooth Jazz at the Ellwood House Museum-7:00 PM. Tuesday features an old fashion Community Band concert at Hopkins Park. Wednesday will feature a Youth Skateboard demonstration in Van Buer Plaza; Thursday, July 28, a 7:00pm concert at Sycamre Park featuring "Five Guys named MOE".
