Heritage Farmstead Museum Celebrates FarmFest 2013, Plano, Texas

 

 

Plano, Texas (September 3, 2013) - Experience a county fair style atmosphere at the Heritage Farmstead Museum’s first annual FarmFest on Saturday, September 7, 2013, from 11:00am – 8:00pm.  This family-friendly, all-day celebration will feature livestock demonstrations, the Model-A club, a John Deere Antique tractor show, hands on farm activities, food from Ye Ole Butcher Shop, games and contests, craft and retail vendors, old time photography with Misty Hoyt, a beer and wine garden with Love and War in Texas,  and fresh squeezed lemonade from Raising Cane’s. 

 

Visit the new exhibit in the Farrell-Wilson house on the life of a truly unique woman, Ammie Wilson, and celebrate the launch of the new book Never a Good Girl, written by HFM Curator, Hillary Kidd.  Finish the day with a concert at 6:00pm with Jon Christopher Davis and Lone Star Attitude. 

 

Farm activities are open from 11:00am – 5:30pm.  Tickets are $10.00 a person.  Register in advance at www.heritagefarmstead.org/events to receive a discount.
 
The Museum is located in the heart of Collin County at the intersection of Custer Road and 15th Street and has been described by Plano Mayor Phil Dyer as the “cultural crossroads of the community.” With 4 acres of original Blackland Prairie and designated a National Landmark, the Farmstead features a restored historic house, farm animals, original outbuildings and a replica of a one-room schoolhouse.
