Jose A. Garcia

La Habra Heights, California, February 3, 2016 - The Hillcrest Festival of Fine Arts, showcasing the works of outstanding artists from all over Southern California, will be celebrating its 56th anniversary Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 26, 27 and 28, 2016 at its hillside setting in La Habra Heights, CA  (2000 West Rd.). There is no admission charge and parking is free for all attendees.

Two hundred artists will be exhibiting, selling, and in many cases, demonstrating the production of their works, covering a wide spectrum: paintings in watercolor, oil and acrylics; unique handmade jewelry; ceramics and pottery; hand-woven clothing; photography; stained and fused glass; bronze, metal and wire sculptures; carved woodworking; and a great selection of handcrafted gifts in the Arts & Crafts Boutique.  Each year many first-time exhibitors, as well as long-time favorites, are screened and selected to participate.

Free art workshops for children will be held on Saturday and Sunday where they can create their own artwork.  Festival attendees can browse, shop, enjoy musical entertainment, and eat at the Starving Artist Café, sponsored by Simply Irresistible.  Local high school students will be showcasing their artwork in an exciting new exhibit that will highlight their talents and skills.  There will be a special exhibit by Bra-Vo, the local organization that gives breast cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers an opportunity to express themselves creatively by turning bras into art and story.  As an outreach of Health Partnership, Bra-Vo’s bra art workshops provide a creative outlet for women to share their stories about breast cancer and find a place to connect with other survivors.

Festival hours are 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Friday and Saturday, and 11:30 am – 5:00 pm Sunday.  All festival areas will be open during the weekend, including indoor galleries, demonstrators, outdoor exhibits, and the Arts & Crafts Boutique.

Free parking is available on three levels on the festival grounds.  Overflow free parking with free shuttle service every 20 minutes will be available on Friday at Redemption Hill Church, 16153 Russell Street, Whittier, and on Saturday and Sunday at La Serna High School, 15301 Youngwood Drive, Whittier.
