Kelseyville Pear Festival showcases agricultural heritage celebrating pear and wine grape harvest, Kelseyville, CA

 

 

Kelseyville, California, June 21, 2016 - The historic country town of Kelseyville, CA celebrates 24 years of agricultural heritage with the Kelseyville Pear Festival on Saturday, September 24, 2016. From 7:00 am to 5:00 pm this free family-focused event showcases agritourism, history, local businesses, craftsmen, and community services. The event takes place on Main Street.
 
The day that starts off with a pancake breakfast at the Kelseyville Fire House and is followed by a home town parade.  Musical and dancing performances perform throughout the day.
 
Antique cars, engines and tractors are on display; art shows; local arts and crafts; plus an entire pavilion showcasing all things ‘pear.’  Under the big top, one can enjoy pear taste tests, pear desserts, and pear ice creams.  The tent provides cool shade to wander among the historical photos, packing shed labels and antique farm equipment provided by the Ely Stage Stop and Country Museum. 
 
New this year is the Wine Tent. Some of Lake County’s finest wines will be poured for taste testing. Food vendors offer an array of selections all day and locally brewed beers returns along with pear margaritas.
 
The Horse Faire features demonstrations and special activities geared for kids.  Also, just for kids, is Kid’s Town. They will find jump houses, petting zoo, face painting and other fun events.
 
Business owners along Main Street have joined the Lake County Quilt Trail. Lake County is the first to establish a quilt trail in California and consists of approximately 100 painted quilt block patterns. Each is unique and inspired by personal memories of the owners. Maps for the entire trail can be picked up at the Information desk at Third and Main Streets.
