Kingman, AZ (November 19, 2013) - Two of the Southwest’s major tourist destinations, Hualapai Tourism, operators of Grand Canyon West®, home of the Skywalk®, and the Route 66 International Festival, have announced that they are joining forces to host a multi-day Festival in August, 2014.

Hualapai Tourism parent company Grand Canyon Resort Corporation has signed on as the Title Sponsor of the 2014 Route 66 International Festival to be hosted in Kingman, Arizona, August 14 thru 17, 2014.

Events planned include Vintage Car, Motorcycle, and Travel Trailer Shows, a Conference on Transforming Route 66 into America’s 1st All Electric Highway with solar charging stations all along Route 66, golf and bowling tournaments, the Route 66 Authors, Artists and Collector’s Exhibit in the newly constructed Beale Street Celebration Center, a VW Bug Fest, Film Festival, Sock Hop, Concerts, Barbeques and Wine & Rum Tastings from the Hualapai Mountains to the Valle Vista Wine Country.

The Route 66 Alliance sanctions the International Route 66 Festival. The alliance is a 501c (3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and enhancement of the Historic Route.

Authors, artists, vintage and contemporary car, truck and motorcycle owners, music lovers, crafters and collectors are all attracted to the mystique of the famous highway and they attend the annual International Festival by the thousands, hosted by a different city along the Route each year (2013 was Joplin, MO). Route 66 also has a tremendous appeal with International travelers who seek the road’s unique offering of Americana.

Kingman, Arizona, at the intersection of Interstate 40 and US Highway 93, just 90 minutes south of Las Vegas, 3 ½ hours north of Phoenix and 5 hours from Los Angeles by car, sits at 3,300 feet elevation, moderating the desert heat considerably. The average temperature in August is 93 degrees with low humidity.
