New York, New York, April 28, 2015 (McKenzieNewsService.com) - Light Opera of New York (LOONY) presents The Only Girl, by Victor Herbert, on Friday, May 8th at 7:30 pm and Saturday, May 9 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia, Broadway at 95th Street, New York City.

The Only Girl poses the age-old question: Can a man and woman maintain a work relationship that excludes sex or even a hint of romance? Famous librettist Alan Kimbrough and up-and-coming composer Ruth Wilson struggle to come to terms with their attraction to one another, an attraction that confuses the two of them even more than it confounds their entourage of agents, attorneys and showgirls. LOONY follows up last year’s smash hit Orange Blossoms with another of Victor Herbert's naughty, rarely performed gems.

Eight extremely talented young singers shine in Herbert's exuberant score and director Michael Phillips' newly-adapted libretto, which reinvigorates the story by setting it in the 1950s—an era when the idea of women working with men on an equal footing was still a gleam in Gloria Steinem’s eye.
