New York, New York, November 30, 2015 - Under the baton of new music director Christopher Shepard, The Masterwork Chorus performs its electrifying interpretation of Handelís Messiah on December 23, 2015 at 7:30 pm in the legendary acoustics of Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall, 57th Street at 7th Avenue, NYC.  Maestro Shepard, a Baroque scholar, makes his debut on the Perelman Stage with this appearance.  He is joined by members of the Masterwork Orchestra and soloists soprano Susan Consoli (in her Carnegie Hall solo debut), countertenor Ryland Angel, tenor Matthew Anderson, and baritone Steven Condy, all of whom are widely recognized for their superb Baroque performance techniques.

Messiah is a part of the fabric of the Masterwork Chorus; the ensemble has performed this oratorio 255 times, with 118 occurring in Carnegie Hall. But the music always seems fresh. It is a great work, and under the leadership of gifted music directors, the singers have come to understand its greatness on both an emotional and intellectual level.  Their sensitive portrayal of Messiahís power, passion and joy has inspired audiences since 1957, and will continue to do so in the years to come. Founded in 1955, The Masterwork Chorus celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.
