The Masterwork Chorus Performs Handel's Messiah at Carnegie Hall, December 18th

On December 18th at 7:30 pm, The Masterwork Chorus returns to the Perelman Stage in Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall to perform their signature work, Handel’s Messiah, an event that has occurred annually since 1961.  Messiah is more than a singing “gig” for this 95-voice, fully auditioned chorus.  Led by Music Director Andrew Megill and his commitment to excellence, the Chorus also conveys the joy that comes from performing Handel’s classic in a legendary hall for an audience that consistently rewards them with standing ovations.

Maestro Megill, acclaimed for his interpretation of the baroque style, shares the stage with a professional baroque orchestra and four soloists with luminous voices perfectly suited to the work. Soprano Rebecca Mariman, contralto Emily Marvosh, tenor Eric Rieger, and baritone David Newman all expressively portray the roles that make Messiah come to life. Ms. Mariman, Ms. Marvosh, and Mr. Rieger make their Carnegie Hall solo debut with this appearance.

Tickets: $13.50 - $90.00; Promo Codes for discounted tickets are available at www.masterwork.org. Give the gift of Masterwork’s Messiah to family and friends. Regularly priced tickets are available through Carnegie Hall at www.carnegiehall.org or by calling 212-247-7800. The performance takes place at Perelman Stage, Stern Auditorium, Carnegie Hall, 881 Seventh Ave. at 57th Street, New York, NY.

Founded in 1955 and based in Morristown, NJ, The Masterwork Chorus has a performance history that includes not only the traditional masterworks, but also masterpieces spanning a variety of musical periods and styles, all of which deserve to be heard.  This Carnegie Hall appearance marks the group’s 253rd performance of Messiah.
