Unmasking the Stage: The Visual Artists Behind the Theater Experience Opens January 29th at The Museums of Los Gatos

 

 

Los Gatos, California (January 15, 2014) - Presented by the Museums of Los Gatos, in association with Musson Theatrical, Unmasking the Stage: The Visual Artists Behind the Theater Experience, opens January 29th and showcases the stagecraft of set designers, costumers, make-up and lighting artists. On view through March 30, 2014, this captivating exhibition offers a unique, behind-the-scenes look at work by talented designers from the Bay Area Theatre community. Through the generosity of Opera San Jose, San Jose Repertory Theater, San Jose State University Theater Department, Santa Clara University Theater Department and Children’s Musical Theater, discover the processes artists use to create a sense of place and time for the theater audience.
 
If you’ve ever wondered, “How do they do that?” while watching a live performance, this exhibition is a must-see.
 
The opening reception is on Wednesday, January 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Art of the Theatre: A Panel Discussion is February 27, 2014, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Family Art Day is March 9, 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. And don’t miss Live at the Museum: An Evening of Inspired Performances, March 20, 2014, at 6:30, featuring Shady Shakespeare and Starting Arts.
