Music Worcester presents the East Coast Chamber Orchestra, March 15

In 2001, a group of musicians – colleagues and friends from leading conservatories and music festivals across the country collectively – envisioned the creation of a democratically-run, self-conducted chamber orchestra that would thrive on the pure joy and camaraderie of classical music making.

Worcester, Massachusetts (March 6, 2014) - An orchestra of soloists comes to Worcester Saturday, March 15th, when the East Coast Chamber Orchestra plays Tuckerman Hall. Comprised of members of leading orchestras from across the US, this group gives new meaning to the term virtuoso orchestra.

Program includes a Mozart Divertimento, Ravel's String Quartet arranged for orchestra, and works by Satie, Greenstein, Gesualdo.

In 2001, a group of musicians – colleagues and friends from leading conservatories and music festivals across the country collectively – envisioned the creation of a democratically-run, self-conducted chamber orchestra that would thrive on the pure joy and camaraderie of classical music making. This organic approach and high level of passion and commitment resulted in ECCO, a dynamic collective that combines the strength and power of a great orchestral ensemble with the personal involvement and sensitivity of superb chamber music.

Now soloists, principal musicians from across the country, and renowned affiliates with the Marlboro Music Festival, ECCO has received nothing but great acclaim ever since its formation. The program for their Worcester debut demonstrates the East Coast Chamber Orchestra’s efforts to define the future of orchestras – a mix of great works by composers known and unknown, classical and non-classical.

The concert is at Tuckerman Hall, 10 Tuckerman Street, Worcester, MA,  March 15 at 8pm; free pre-concert talk at 7PM.

Tickets are $42 adult, $15 student, $5 youth (18 & under). Program information is at:
