Mineral Wells, Texas, May 20, 2014 (McKenzieNewsService.com) - On June 7th, The National Vietnam War Museum will host the 5th annual update of its replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at 12685 Mineral Wells Highway, Weatherford, TX . The gates will open at 8:00 a.m. with the ceremony beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The event will honor the four men whose names were added to the wall in Washington, D.C. last year, as well as a special welcome home to fourteen recovered MIAs. Guest speakers include COL Mark Franklin (USA Ret.) of the Vietnam 50th Commemoration, CPT Sarah L. Blum (USA Ret.), COL Mant Hawkins (USMC Ret.), and CPT Gilbert J. Miller (USN). Also in attendance will be members of the Patriot Guard motorcycle unit and a color guard from Denton VVA Post 920.

In addition to the update ceremony, the museum will be dedicating the Navy Garden, featuring a special tribute to the sailors of the USS Frank E. Evans lost during the Vietnam War. A memorial forms the centerpiece of the new garden.

Following the outdoor ceremonies, the Visitor Center will be open so that guests can view the museum’s latest exhibit, a photo retrospective of the Kent State Shooting that occurred on May 4, 1970. The exhibit is the work of Vietnam veteran Charles Thompson and will be on display in the Visitor Center for the next several months.
