"Following the Light - France to Mississippi: Paintings by Frank Janca" is a reflection of Janca’s objective of creating "light with color, and space with light" through his paintings of landscapes and the daily life of France juxtaposed with perceptions of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Biloxi, Mississippi (September 3, 2013) - Three dramatically contrasting exhibitions complement the innovative ceramics of George E. Ohr at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art.  "Following the Light - France to Mississippi: Paintings by Frank Janca" is a reflection of Janca’s objective of creating "light with color, and space with light" through his paintings of landscapes and the daily life of France juxtaposed with perceptions of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  "Shearwater: The Christopher and Kristen Hogan Collection" features works from the collection of Christopher Hogan, MD and his wife Kristen, who share a passion for Shearwater pottery and the family legacy of Peter (1901–1984), Walter (1903–1965) and Mac (1907–1998) Anderson.  "Visions: Art Outside the Box" showcases the work of five visionary artists, Theodore Brooks, Martin Green, Charles St. Julien, Dr. Charles Smith, and Willie White, whose art defies categorization and can be described as such as intuitive, self-taught, and self-authored.

Enjoy what makes the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum unique: the artists, architecture, history and landscape.  OOMA celebrates the innovative and creative spirit of Mississippi master potter George Ohr. In a fitting tribute to Ohr, architect Frank Gehry designed an award- winning campus of bold self-sufficient structures. The Gehry buildings and replica of the home of former slave Pleasant Reed offer visitors separate but not isolated experiences, connected by an expansive brick plaza and majestic live oak trees.  The landscape is relaxing and the art inspiring, invigorating and challenging.
