October Art Shows at the Old Court House Arts Center, Woodstock, IL, October 1st to 31st

 

 

Woodstock, Illinois, September 22, 2014 (McKenzieNewsService.com) - Check out a vibrant local arts scene October 1-31 at the October Art Shows at the Old Court House Arts Center in Woodstock, Illinois.  The gallery at 101 N. Johnson Street on the historic Square continues its tradition of hosting exhibits of local and national artists that change monthly. Hours are Thursday to Saturday, 11am-5pm; Sunday, 1-5 pm. "Ellipse" showcases two- and three-dimensional artwork and film by the E/Artgroup, a local collective known for eclectic shows. “Ellipse” features works by E/Artgroup members plus selected guests. Reception on Saturday, October 18, 6-9pm, includes poetry slam hosted by Go Gotti Go and music from around the world by Lia McCoo.

The Clayworkers Guild of Illinois 14th Annual Members' Show features work by local artists who use clay as an expressive medium. This popular event offers both functional and artistic ceramics for sale and promotes McHenry County College's Ryan Long Scholarship Fund for art students. The "Day of the Dead" exhibit features 'Gallery Artist of the Month' Mariluz Welvers. Don't miss this cosmopolitan artist's vivid images evoking Mexico's famous celebration. Startling and whimsical by turns, Welvers' paintings serve as cultural ambassadors.
