Pottery by Angela Shope

Layton, New Jersey, August 30, 2016 - What do you get when you combine Dr. Suess and Beatrix Potter? You get the fine porcelain creations of Angela Shope. Angela, is a lifelong native of the areas in and around Lancaster, PA. She infuses her work, largely animal-themed pottery, with a joyful and captivating breath of life. “When you buy something handmade, you are buying a little piece of the person,” she remarks. Those who buy Angela’s large-scale mugs and vivacious paintings are buying a piece of her inventive and fun-loving soul.

This will be Angela’s first time as an exhibitor at the 46th Annual Peters Valley Fine Craft Fair, happening September 24 & 25 at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, NJ, Saturday, 10am - 6pm and Sunday, 10am – 5pm
(www.petersvalley.org). She is eager to be a part of this event that carries the integrity of a show affiliated with a professional craft center. A graduate from Millersville University, she makes her studio at her home nearby, and, as a young mother, finds herself largely influenced by her child as she creates playful animal-based mugs and vessels.

Her 3D animal mugs are her most popular and her paintings are
one-of-a-kind creations.  Angela speaks of her popularity with an air of gratitude and excitement. She is thrilled to share the convivial nature of her pottery with the public. There is nothing she loves more than to make connections with her customers. “Pottery is art that you can hold and use. It allows you to connect to the emotion of the artist and celebrate life.” She finds that she has achieved her greatest success when a customer “matches her vibe.” If she is able to transfer an emotion, an idea or a story to someone, she is over the moon. “Seeing people smile is what it is all about.”
