Rivers of Steel Kicks Off New Mini-Grant Funding Round

 

Homestead, Pennsylvania, June 17, 2015 - The Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area, in conjunction with the PA Department of Conservation & Natural Resources, announces that applications are now available for the 2015 Mini-Grant Program. To be considered for a 2015 grant, completed applications must be uploaded by 3:00 pm on July 31, 2015.  Paper applications will not be accepted. The on-line application is available at www.riversofsteel.com/about/grants.
 
Applicants to the grant program are required to address how their project fits with the mission of the Rivers of Steel that includes the regionís natural, cultural, recreational and industrial resources as key components for preserving the heritage, sense of place, and economic vibrancy of the regionís citizens and communities. Grants between $2,500 and $15,000 will be considered and will require a local 1:1 match.


Projects must be located in one of the counties within the Rivers of Steel Heritage Area: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Washington or Westmoreland. Grant applicants must also have 501(c) 3 status. Grant applicants must show the ability to complete the proposed project within the grant period. Higher priority will be afforded to organizations that have their match funding in-hand or officially committed.
