Sacramento, California, October 26, 2015 - The Sacramento Community Concert Association (SCCA) and newly elected President, J. Scott Miller, has announced its 63rd Season, 2015-2016, with five live musical performances.

The season opens with international performer and published songwriter, Virginia Ayers-Dawson on November 15, 3:00pm, at The Center, 2300 Sierra Blvd. in Sacramento.  Her repertoire includes jazz, classic standards and original compositions.  Critics claim her performances are “an infusion of love and joyful abandon wrapped up in jazzy delight.”

Program Director Elaine Gosine announced the other selections as well:
The second program will feature The Davis Children’s Chorale, as well as Folsom Lake College Youth Chamber Orchestra.  It will be held at Westminister Presbyterian Church, 1300 N. St., Sacramento on January 31, 2016 at 3:00pm. The Davis Children’s Chorale,  who have performed nationally and internationally, were invited to join the honor choir in Washington, DC for the Festival of Gold Competition.  The Folsom Lake College Youth Chamber Orchestra is one of the most captivating young artist ensembles in the greater Sacramento area; their challenging repertoire includes Baroque, and expresses their individual artistic talents.

The fourth program features concert pianist Theresa Keene, and vocalist Marlynn Smith,  on April 24, 3:00pm,  Westminister Presbyterian Church 1300 N. Street.  Theresa Keene is one of a very few African American female concert pianists in Northern California and has performed as a soloist in Switzerland, Vienna, and New York.  She will present works of Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Oscar Peterson, Vladimir Horowitz’s Carmen Variations, as well as spirituals.  Marlynn Smith has performed on Broadway, and focuses on opera, spiritual and gospel music as well.

The last program of 2016 will be vocalist Gayiel Von, Sacramento’s own Renaissance woman performing everything from  Gershwin to Cole Porter to Jerome Kern.  She will be accompanied by Jim Jordan – they’ve been playing together for fourteen years.   Gayiel has been performing for 40 years with such notables as Nancy Wilson, Barbara Streisand, and Ben Vereen, among others.  Jim Jordan, who has performed with some of the greatest gospel musicians such as Della Reese,  will amaze with his astounding range and vocal ability.  This performance will be held May 22, 2016, at 5:00pm, at The Center, 2300 Sierra Blvd. in Sacramento.
