San Francisco's Holiday Season Never Looked Brighter…and it all Starts Along the City's Waterfront

Holiday revelers will be greeted with the most exciting “gift” to the city, including the dramatically-lit Embarcadero Center where each of five buildings is outlined in twinkling lights. At the center of this Waterfront holiday destination, Embarcadero Center features an outdoor ice skating rink as well as over 100 retail stores and restaurants each of which offers their own brand of cheer.  The neighboring Hyatt Regency San Francisco is a virtual, over-sized “snow globe” promising daily snowfall in its Guinness Book of World Records largest lobby.

San Francisco, California (October 17, 2013) - San Francisco is renowned for celebration on a grand scale and the coming holiday season in the city-by-the-bay will be decked out in magical tradition this year.  It all starts where this town of holiday lights meets the revitalized Waterfront.

The neighboring Hyatt Regency San Francisco is a virtual, over-sized “snow globe” promising daily snowfall in its Guinness Book of
World Records largest lobby.

Complimented by over 300,000 cascading lights as well as the popular snow village display, which features thousands of intriguing collectibles, the magical, holiday mood extends beyond Embarcadero Center and Hyatt Regency San Francisco into the other Waterfront landmarks. Across the street, the Ferry Building will be decked out with holiday treats for both the eyes and taste buds, with food-oriented and sustainability-themed
gifts and decor; the newly relocated ExplOratorium is planning to introduce the adults-only “After Dark” on December 5, wherein a holiday-themed “Glow” event will bring out all the lights of the season; along the promenade you will see illuminated boats as well as the many piers that grace the Waterfront, and of course, within view of this bustling and revived bay-front location is the much celebrated Bay Bridge Lights Project, which can be seen from any of these festive locations.

For those visiting from within the city, other Bay Area locales or from afar, Hyatt Regency San Francisco is holiday central and is the perfect “home for the holidays.”  With its ideal location at Embarcadero Center, the hotel is convenient to all forms of Bay Area public transportation, including MUNI, BART, ferries and historic street cars, and is only steps from the California Street Cable Car line (where riders do not have to wait in long lines to hop aboard).  Additionally, there are many parking options, including the four buildings of Embarcadero Center’s four underground garages, which offers validation for patrons of some of the center’s retailers and restaurants.

So, what should be on your holiday list? To begin, the Hyatt Regency San Francisco kicks off the San Francisco holiday season with the annual Atrium Lighting Ceremony, which will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013.  Starting at 7:00 p.m., immediately following the Embarcadero Center’s 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. exterior lighting and skating show ceremony, the hotel will celebrate the launch of the San Francisco’s holiday season with live entertainment and the season’s debut of snowfall in the lobby.  The hotel will also be illuminated with 300,000 lights, which cascade down the hotel’s dramatic 17-story atrium lobby, complemented by a centerpiece 30-foot illuminated tree.

What’s next?  Open 24-hours a day and free to the public, the Hyatt Regency San Francisco will continue the holiday traditions with an engaging and interactive snowfall display in its dramatic atrium lobby throughout the holiday season.  Complementing the dramatic lights and over-the-top interior décor that includes a 30-foot tree and over-sized holiday characters, snow will fall daily from November 22 through December 30, 2013. Snow times are as follows:  Weekends (Saturday + Sunday) at 10:30 a.m.; 2:30 p.m.; 4:30 p.m.; and 6:30 p.m. and on weekdays (Monday – Friday) at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Additionally, back by popular demand, the hotel’s legendary Snow Village display will be on exhibit in the hotel’s lobby from November 22 through December 30. The 2013 display encompasses over 1000 pieces, ranging from traditional holiday-inspired collectibles to entertaining motion-oriented exhibits.

While all this free entertainment is enough to delight kids of any age, Hyatt Regency San Francisco has the inside track with personal visits from Santa Claus who will be making his appearance during the weekends leading up to Christmas, at Eclipse Restaurant’s Breakfast with Santa. The weekend buffet is offered from 8:00 a.m. to Noon, on the following dates: November 30; December 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22.
