Sonoma County Philharmonic to perform Brahms Symphony No. 4

Santa Rosa, California, January 8, 2016 - Bay Area trombone virtuoso Bruce Chrisp will perform with the Sonoma County Philharmonic on January 23 and 24, playing the rarely-heard Concertino for Trombone Op. 4 by German composer Ferdinand David.

The concert will also include Brahmsí majestic Symphony No. 4 and Weberís spirited Oberon Overture.

Composed in 1837, Davidís Concertino for Trombone was one of the first Romantic-era solo pieces for the instrument. Its soaring lyricism will showcase the artistry of Mr. Chrisp, a much sought-after studio musician who is a member of both the Santa Rosa Symphony and the Marin Symphony.

The Sonoma County Philharmonic, conducted by Norman Gamboa, is a 65-member orchestra made up of professional-level musicians who volunteer their talents to reach an audience of people who might not otherwise experience a live orchestra. Now in its 17th season, the orchestra has presented hundreds of affordable concerts in the North Bay.

The upcoming concerts will be held on January 23 at 7:30 pm and January 24 at 2:00 pm at the Santa Rosa High School Performing Arts Auditorium,
1235 Mendocino Ave. Santa Rosa, CA. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.socophil.org or call 800-838-3006.

Admission is $10 General Admission; $15 Premium Seating; free for students 18 and under.
