"Swedish Way" and Arts Weekend at Swedish American Museum, Chicago, October 11 to 13

 

A Swedish Painter: Michael Söderlundh

 

Chicago, Illinois (October 7, 2013) - As a mainstay of the annual Andersonville Arts Weekend, the Swedish American Museum will offer free admission from Friday through Sunday, October 11 to 13, and provide a welcoming Swedish Café together with SWEA Chicago, art exhibits and trunk shows of Scandinavian products.


Hours of the Museum’s “Swedish Way” and Café in the first floor gallery are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. In addition to the current exhibit, “A Swedish Painter: Michael Söderlundh,” works by local artist Curtis Pinley will be displayed.


The trunk show by Polarn O. Pyret, Sweden’s leading brand of attractive, durable children’s wear, includes a sample and warehouse sale with discounts up to 70 percent on items from all collections for youngsters from newborn to age 12. This show is scheduled Friday and Saturday only.


The popular Swedish Clogmaster trunk show returns to the Museum for four days, Friday through Monday, featuring properly fitted clogs in a variety of fashionable designs, colors and materials.


Also on hand all weekend are Stockholm portrait photographer Kristine Casart, Elisabeth Hubbard of Norwex and Funflectors, and Kelly Brask of Koll Organizing.


Founded in 1976, the Swedish American Museum is a not-for-profit cultural center that interprets the immigrant experience for children and adults and promotes an appreciation of contemporary Swedish-American culture.  Located at 5211 N. Clark Street in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood, the museum is open seven days a week.
