Thousands Expected at Vermont Quilt Festival, June 28-30

Essex Junction, Vermont (June 18, 2013) - The Vermont Quilt Festival returns to the Champlain Valley Expo in Essex Junction, Vermont, June 28-30, 2013, astounding visitors with the rich colors and intricate craftsmanship in the quilts on display. Thousands of enthusiasts come to celebrate New England’s oldest and largest quilt event. Awaiting them are exhibits of hundreds of new and antique quilts, lectures and classes with renowned quilt artists, quilt appraisal services, free gallery talks, demos, and a colorful array of wares in the extensive Merchants Mall.
 
Over the last third of a century, VQF has offered some of the best quilts, both antique and new, and this year is no exception,” said Richard L. Cleveland, founder of the Festival. It is proud to showcase a collection of antique quilts, contemporary works by quilt artists Jo Diggs and Susan Damone Balch, contest quilts, and a collection of new quilts that are the makers’ interpretations of a the famed Jane Stickle Civil War quilt.
 
Festivities begin Thursday evening, June 27 with the Awards Ceremony for prizewinning quilts. The always-festive Champagne and Chocolate Preview, sponsored by Quilting Treasures of Rhode Island, begins at 7:30pm. Preview tickets are $12. The appraisal service for antique quilts is available Saturday, 9am to 5pm; the fee is $40 per quilt. Exhibits and the Merchants Mall are open to the public Friday and Saturday 9am to 6pm; Sunday 9am to 3pm. Daily admission is $12, children under 14 free. For more information, visit
