Von Heidecke's Chicago Festival Ballet 25th Anniversary Nutcracker Auditions, August 9

 

 

Naperville, Illinois, July 23, 2014 (McKenzieNewsService.com) - Dancers ages six years old through professional level are invited to audition for the Von Heidecke Chicago Festival Ballet’s 25th Anniversary production of the Nutcracker. Auditions will be held  Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 at Von Heidecke’s Dance Center 1239 S. Naper Blvd., Naperville, IL.
 
Auditions will take place according to the following schedule:
 
• 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.: dancers ages 6 - 10
• 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.: dancers age 11 - professional level
 
Dancers must arrive 30 minutes prior to their age group’s start time to register. Audition forms are available on their website at www.chicagofestivalballet.com

 
This production is choreographed by Kenneth Von Heidecke, who is the protégé of legendary Prima Ballerina Assoluta Maria Tallchief, and whose works are seen around the world. It boasts internationally acclaimed principal dancers, spectacular scenery and costumes.  President Obama's daughters appeared in this production of the Nutcracker, downtown at the Harris Theater in 2007, when President Obama was still a Senator of Illinois.  Gold medalist U.S. Olympic figure skater Evan Lysecek attended this school, as well as Victoria Born of “Center Stage,” and Joffery principal dancer Joanna Wozniak. 
 
“The Nutcracker” performance dates are as follows:
 
2 p.m. Sunday, November 30, at the Rialto Square Theatre, 15 E. Van Buren St., Joliet, Illinois
 
2:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m, on Saturday, December 20 and 1:00 p.m. & 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 21st , at the MacAninch Arts Center, 525 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn, Illinois

About the Ballet:

Founded in 1989, Von Heidecke Chicago Festival Ballet (CFB) has steadily grown since its inception at Scotland's prestigious Edinburgh Festival when Mr. von Heidecke received full funding from a grant from Chicago Artists Abroad. In December 1990, under the sponsorship of Discover Card and the Gaylord Donnelley Foundation, the DuPage Arts Center presented the VHB in its first full-length Nutcracker. Simultaneously, Mr. von Heidecke founded the Von Heidecke School of the VHB in order to offer the highest level of training in classical ballet with a faculty of renowned international artists of the ballet world.
