Wedgwood Art Festival, Seattle Audubon Celebrate Art & Nature Together, Seattle, WA

Seattle, Washington, (June 8, 2016) – The Wedgwood Art Festival will be held on the weekend of July 9th & 10th to celebrate art and nature at two great free events in the NE Seattle neighborhood of Wedgwood at 8900 35th Ave NE.

The 11th Annual Wedgwood Art Festival is once again held on the second Saturday in July. The Seattle Audubon, a Wedgwood based organization, is hosting their Bird and Nature Art Fair on the same Saturday. The organizers of both events coordinated efforts to do joint publicity and work together to encourage people to visit the wonderful neighborhood of Wedgwood that weekend. The Wedgwood Art Festival organizers are excited to partner with Seattle Audubon for this fun filled weekend of inspiring art, music kids, activities and food.

Both events will have a display of juried fine art vendors including many new and returning favorites and artists from the Pacific Northwest. With a wide variety, there is something for everyone. Choose a new painting, print or photograph for that bare space on your wall. Pick out some jewelry for an evening out, or a new ceramic mug for your morning coffee. Add some whimsy to your garden with a new outdoor sculpture. Choose from beautiful glass, mosaics, sculpture, fiber arts and more to add to your collection.

Always memorable, the musical lineup at the Wedgwood Art Festival showcases a diverse variety of talent from ten different bands. Start your Saturday morning with the Centerpiece Jazz Band comprised of professional musicians, teachers and students from the non-profit Music Center of the Northwest. Five new musical acts to the stage this year, including ThorNton Creek, Swing 49, Birch Pereira and the Gin Joints, and File’ Gumbo. Returning favorites include Stick Shift Annie with Kimball and the Fugitive’s eclectic blend of blues, latin influenced CocoLoco and Yaamba, an African marimba band.

The festival is committed to being a free, family friendly and community-minded event. Enjoy children’s music with Johnny Breger’s rootsy, jazzy, poppy sound and circus arts and puppetry with children entertainer, Linda Severt. Children can also participate in creating art at booths sponsored by Roaring Mouse Studios and Artist and Craftsman Supply. Wedgwood’s own Engine 40 will visit each day to allow children to meet the local firefighters and climb on the fire truck.

Enjoy a meal or a snack while at the festival with new vendors in the expanded food section. New this year are Blackstar Kebab, GF Sugar & Spice Baking Company, DB Shave Ice and On the Grind Espresso. Back this year are 314 Pies, and Athena’s Food Truck Greek Fare. All are located at the Wedgwood Art Festival’s Food Terrace.

The Wedgwood Art Festival returns to Our Lady of the Lake Parish School at 3520 NE 89th St, just 9 blocks north. The Seattle Audubon’s event is hosted in the Nature Shop parking lot just 9 blocks south at 8050 35th Ave NE.

The Festival thank Our Lady of the Lake Parish and school for allowing the festival to use their grounds and to thrir presenting sponsors: QFC, Safeway, HomeStreet Bank and their official sponsors: US Bank, Johnson’s Auto repair, Fiddler’s Inn, and Andrew Franklin DDS.
