Just 7 miles east of Gainesville, home of the famous Univ. of FL Gators, nestled in forests and farmland and bordering the shores of historic Newnan's (Pithlachocco) Lake, Windsor is one of Florida’s oldest communities.

More than 35 years ago a group of concerned residents saw the need to set up and support their own Volunteer Fire Dept to better protect the community and its surrounding areas. The Windsor Zucchini Festival was created to raise funds to help pay the bills. Thanks to this group of volunteers, the Festival is still going.
